WHAT IS WORK STUDY?

Work-Study is a financial aid program that provides opportunities for eligible students to be employed part-time on campus during the Fall-Winter semesters at all 3 campuses. Positions must be academic or career related and the funding covers 100% of the student’s salary and benefits.

 

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

In order to participate, a student MUST have applied and qualified for OSAP funding as a resident of Ontario OR have qualified for student financial aid from a province/territory other than Ontario (confirmation required); OR are receiving Band funding from the Aboriginal Student Support Program (confirmation required) and be registered in at least 60% of a full course load (1.5 courses for each semester) at the University of Toronto (40% or 1.0 courses for each semester for students with documented permanent disabilities).

  • The 2012-2013 program runs from September to March (students can view job listings on the Career Centre On-line starting September 1st).
  • The SUMMER work-study program runs from May to August.
  • Eligible students are able to work a maximum of 12 hours per week, up to 180 hours, within the above time frames.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the development of campus group resources and supportive services: marketing, recruitment, event planning, training, and succession planning.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of outreach materials; answer questions about the program
  • Provide campus group leaders’ information, resources, and support with club recognition, event planning, promotions, funding applications, and campus life engagement.
  • Assist in organizing logistics: refreshments, booking space, photocopying handouts
  • Attend events and assist in facilitating when required
  • Ensure events are evaluated and collate feedback
  • Assist with the coordination of campus group networking events and DSL campus wide events

Responsibilities

  • Help plan, develop, and facilitate programs such as workshops, conferences, and retreats
  • Ensure that all events are marketed sufficiently and effectively on campus and in the community
  • Provide support in the preparation of student life events
  • Assist with any research, data compilation and program documentation
  • Assist with additional tasks when required
